What you will do

As Lead Process Engineer – Extrusion (m/f/d), you will be the technical driver for scaling or developing extrusion technologies from pilot status to production level. This role combines strategic responsibility with hands-on leadership, ensuring safe, efficient, digitized, simulation-based, and sustainable processes that meet business needs. You will collaborate closely with global operations, R&D, and external partners, taking ownership of process design, simulation tools, technology scouting, and investment recommendations. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who thrives on innovation, problem-solving, and transferring ideas into scalable industrial solutions.

  • Evaluate and implement processes on pilot scale and transfer them to production scale, with technical responsibility for specifications, acceptance criteria, etc. for Pilot Center or Global Operations.
  • Develop and/or design machine layouts and production concepts (incl. technical responsibility for assortment in pilot production) considering safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Support plants globally in troubleshooting, start-ups, and training of operators.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise pilot and/or production trials, providing technical leadership to up to 5 operators during trials.
  • Initiate and contribute to invention disclosures.
  • Perform literature and patent searches in consultation with the relevant stakeholders and support FTO analysis from a technological perspective.
  • Provide input to the relevant Technology Roadmap(s) and make investment recommendations for technology development.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external networks, with a focus on technological aspects, including scouting and screening of new technologies (e.g., suppliers, fairs, institutions, academia).
  • Support recruitment and provide technical guidance to students or apprentices.

What you will need

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a Science discipline, ideally with 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Assertive personality with a proven hands-on mentality and strong technical comprehension.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems, think creatively, and explore innovative solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication at different hierarchy levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Fluent in English and proficient in German.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
